Andrea

Andrea

Supertutor of November and December

Meet Andrea she has excelled as a reading and math tutor for elementary students in El Paso. She knows the strong and positive impact tutoring has on students since she personally had a tutor as a child.

“Hi! I am Andrea and I am currently a Senior Studying Engineering Leadership and an Emphasis on Entrepreneurship at UTEP! I have currently accepted a position with BNSF Railway in their engineering department to work with the track maintenance team after I graduate! Being a tutor has been such a wonderful learning experience, I love getting to know the students as well as helping them through the challenges they endure when it comes to learning subjects that are sometimes difficult. Sometimes a little push and a whole lot of practice go a long way! As a child, I struggled a lot when it came to certain subjects, and it was hard for me to find the materials and resources to succeed. Until one day I had a tutor that helped me find my way when it came to academics and I excelled, having that really changed my outlook on academics.”

Karla

Karla

Supertutor September

Meet Karla one of our soon-to-be Math and Science teacher for middle school. Her curiosity and dedication make her one of our best tutors! She has learned to embrace her curiosity and is teaching our students to do the same. Her students now only benefit from her extensive math skills but also her organizational and learning skills.

“Hello, I am Karla. Since I was a little kid, I decided I wanted to be a math teacher and have been working on that goal ever since. I am a senior in college and aiming for a degree in 4-8th Math and Science teacher with an ESL certification. Although I have always known I wanted to be a math teacher, I tried testing out more career paths within the mathematics field and have earned an associate degree in Civil Engineering. Thanks to the tutoring I have been able to interact with different students and their different grade levels, and I know I have made the right decision in choosing the grade level I want to teach for the rest of my career. This has been the best opportunity to grow as an educator, to see different grade levels and materials, and take everything with me when I get to my classroom.”

“My name is Alex, and I was born and raised here in El Paso where I attended Franklin High School before receiving my Bachelor’s from Princeton University. Having grown up here for over 20 years makes the ability to help students in the area even that much more of a blessing. Currently, some of the subjects I tutor include Anatomy, Biology, Math, Physics, Spanish, and SAT test prep. I’d say one of the very best things about working with Tutor Doctor is that I always feel like I’m amongst family: whether it be my supervisors and colleagues within the company or the students and parents that I work with. “My name is Carla Canales, I was born and raised here in El Paso. I am currently in the process of obtaining my undergraduate degree in Biology and Biomedical engineering. The subjects I tutor range from the spectrum of academic coaching on all core curriculum classes, foundation learning, and math/ science-based focus. Working as a part of the Tutor Doctor team has given me the opportunity to be a part of the greater good that exists within the community. As a tutor, the most fulfilling aspect of starting these individualized sessions is seeing the academic progress made overtime and witnessing the child gain confidence in their ability to excel at the scholastic level. It is an absolute pleasure getting the chance to be a role model for these children and make a long-lasting difference for them!”

Carolina

Carolina

Supertutor October

My name is Carolina, a senior at UTEP majoring in physics with a premed concentration. I have been a tutor for Tutor Doctor for about 2 years now. I have tutored a wide range of high schoolers and some younger students in all math and science courses. I have been extremely lucky to receive so many amazing students, for they have all been hardworking! In my sessions I always come up with some sort of fun/funny way to learn topics, which they end up not so easily forgetting, leading to better grades. Working for Tutor Doctor has been such a great part time job because of the flexibility, the extra practice I receive for school topics and having such a great boss, Raquel.

Javier

Javier

Supertutor September

As an undergrad in mechanical engineering, I have a clear understanding of the challenges that any student can have during his/her academic career. I wanted to find the right way to use my skills and knowledge to help any student, and Tutor Doctor gave me that way. Not only does Tutor Doctor help its students with school, but they also emphasize on caring about the students, and mold to every student’s specific needs. This helps students to be successful inside as well as outside of the classroom. This is what makes Tutor Doctor special, and the reason I would choose it over anything else.
